2. Data processing in the app
The app processes only files that you have exported from your own Instagram account and actively loaded into the app (followers_X.json, following.json). The analysis takes place entirely on your device — the raw files are neither transmitted to any server nor stored permanently.
The analysis produces locally stored results (see Section 3). Follometry never transmits any app data to external servers or third parties. There is no cloud connection and no account required.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (processing necessary for the performance of the usage agreement, i.e. providing the requested app functionality).
3. Local storage
The following data is stored exclusively on your device in an embedded database (Hive):
- Non-followers results – the calculated list of accounts that don't follow you back
- Follower changes – results of comparing two exports
- Ignored accounts – accounts you have manually hidden
- App settings – e.g. whether onboarding has been completed
This data never leaves your device. Retention period: Data remains on your device until you uninstall the app or manually reset the results.

When you visit this website, IONOS's web server automatically stores server log files. These may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and time of access. This data is technically necessary for the secure and stable operation of the website and is not combined with other data sources.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website). Retention period: Log files are deleted after a maximum of 30 days.
5. No tracking or analytics
Neither the app nor this website uses any tracking, analytics, advertising libraries, cookies, or crash reporters. No usage statistics are collected.
6. No sharing with third parties
App data is not shared with third parties as it never leaves the user's device. Server log files generated through hosting remain with IONOS and are not passed on to any further third parties.
7. Relationship with Instagram / Meta & Terms of Service compliance
Follometry is an independent app and is in no way affiliated with Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.
The app never accesses your Instagram account, does not use login credentials, and makes no connection to the Instagram API. Follometry analyses only files that you have downloaded yourself using Instagram's official export feature. The right to receive this data is enshrined in Art. 20 GDPR (right to data portability) and must be provided by Instagram to all users.
Unlike many other follower-check apps, Follometry uses no unofficial access methods and therefore does not violate the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines of Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.
8. Children
Follometry is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Your rights as a data subject
You have the following rights with respect to the controller:
- Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): You may request information about the personal data stored about you.
- Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): You may request the correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): You may request the deletion of your data, provided no statutory retention obligations apply.
- Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR): Under certain conditions, you may request that the processing of your data be restricted.
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): You may request that your data be provided to you in a structured, commonly used format.
- Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): You may object to the processing of your data where it is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).
Please note: since app data is stored exclusively on your device and the controller has no access to it, you can view, edit, or delete this data at any time by using the app's reset function or uninstalling the app.
