Request your export from Instagram

Follometry needs the file you request in the Instagram app. Requesting it takes about five minutes. After that, Instagram needs a few minutes to a few hours until the file is ready.

  • You do everything in the Instagram app or in Meta’s Accounts Centre.

  • Three export settings matter: “Followers and following”, JSON format and “All time” as the date range.

  • When the export is ready, Instagram emails you a link to the ZIP file.

Get to the export page

Fastest

Open it directly

The button opens Instagram’s export page in Accounts Centre. You need to be logged in with your Instagram account there.

Follometry does the same: tap “Request export from Instagram”. The app opens this page and shows you the three settings that matter.

Step by step

Through the Instagram app

  1. In the Instagram app, tap your profile picture at the bottom right.
  2. Tap the menu (☰) at the top right and “Settings and activity”.
  3. Tap “Accounts Centre”.
  4. Tap “Your information and permissions”.
  5. Tap “Export your information”. You’re now on the export page.

  8. Step 8

Check the overview: Followers and following, All time, JSON. Then tap “Start export”.

Why the date range matters

Instagram only exports followers from the date range you choose. If it’s too short, accounts are missing from the analysis. So choose “All time” for every export. The export then includes all your followers and all accounts you follow, up to the day of the export.

How long it takes

The export takes a few minutes to a few hours. After the email, you can download the ZIP file for four days. Media quality doesn’t matter, Follometry only needs the JSON files.

What to do in Follometry

  1. Download the ZIP file using the link in the email.
  2. Open Follometry and tap “Load ZIP file”.
  3. Choose the ZIP file you downloaded. Follometry analyzes it and shows you under Follows who doesn’t follow you back.

You see who unfollowed you as soon as you load another export later. More on the help page.
