Follometry App · How it works

🇩🇪 Deutsch 🇬🇧 English

1. Requesting your Instagram export

  1. Open the Instagram app and tap your profile picture in the bottom right.
  2. Tap the hamburger menu (≡) in the top right.
  3. Tap "Settings and privacy".
  4. Tap "Accounts Center".
  5. Tap "Your information and permissions".
  6. Tap "Download your information".
  7. Select your Instagram profile.
  8. Tap "Download to device" → then "Create export".
  9. Tap "Customise information" → check only "Followers and following" under Connections — uncheck everything else.
  10. Tap "Format" → change from HTML to "JSON" — this is important!
  11. Tap "Create export" and wait for the confirmation email — then download the ZIP.

Note: The export can take several hours. The ZIP file is available for 4 days after you receive the email.

Note: Media quality doesn't matter — you only need the JSON files, not the photos.

Important – choosing the right date range: Always set the start date to your account creation date (or one day before). Instagram only exports followers from the selected period — a range that's too short will give incomplete results.
Example: account created 15 May 2019, you want to see the current state → date range: 15 May 2019 – today.

2. Analysing non-followers

  1. Open Follometry and tap "Load ZIP file".
  2. Select the downloaded ZIP file from your Instagram export.
  3. The app analyses automatically — you'll see your non-followers within seconds.
  4. Tap any account to open it directly in Instagram.

Tip: Use the share button (top right) to export the list as plain text.

3. Ignoring accounts

4. Multi-select

5. Managing ignored accounts

6. Follower Changes

Important – both exports must start from account creation: Only the end date differs. Example: account created 1 Jan 2019, comparing April 2026:
Older export: 1 Jan 2019 – 1 Apr 2026
Newer export: 1 Jan 2019 – 30 Apr 2026

Frequently asked questions

Why do I see accounts that follow me in the non-followers list?

Some accounts appear as active in the export but have actually deactivated their account. You can ignore them.

Can my Instagram account get suspended?

No. Follometry never accesses your account. No login credentials are required and no connection to Instagram is made.

How often should I update the export?

Whenever you want up-to-date data. Instagram does not restrict exports.

Why does the export date range need to start from account creation?

Instagram only exports followers who were active within the selected time period. If you choose a range that's too short, followers who joined before that date will be missing — and your results will be incomplete. The same applies to the snapshot comparison: both exports must start from the same date (account creation), with only the end date differing.
